Is it possible in 1 treatment or are more treatments required? Is it only for yellow teeth or also for stains and discoloration? Whatever the cause or method, the goal is the same, which is to whiten the teeth for radiant white teeth.

And you also get answers to the questions; How many shades whiter can my teeth become, which whitening treatment is good for me, what will be the color of your teeth and what are the causes of discoloration and can I prevent discoloration in the future? Is it safe for my tooth enamel?

Beautiful smile gives confidence

After the eyes, the smile is often the first thing people look at. A beautiful smile with radiant white teeth gives confidence. You dare to laugh more often and it gives your life a new impulse. If you want to look good for a wedding, job application or a date, think of your teeth too. Many cosmetic treatments require drilling, but not bleaching. Whitening can actually achieve a very natural result because the original structure and shape of your teeth is preserved.

Over the years, your teeth will absorb dyes. Of course this depends on how many coloring products, such as cigarettes, coffee, tea, red wine, etc., you consume. These are called external discolorations. As a result, the teeth will darken with age. In some cases, the teeth are discolored when they break through due to medication and / or developmental disorders. These are called intrinsic discolorations. In the past, this was sometimes solved by making  crowns  , but nowadays bleaching can offer a great solution.

Teeth whitening systems

Teeth whitening has been used successfully for many years now for discolored teeth. There are different systems for whitening teeth. Most systems are provided through the dentist, but you can also purchase some systems in-store or online. Because these products often use lower concentrations, the effectiveness is less and it is also often better to bleach under the supervision of the dentist, so that the development of the teeth and possibly the  gums  is kept under control. A tooth or molar can be bleached from the outside or from the inside with a dead tooth.

Bleaching from the outside:

This bleaching can be done in the dentist's chair or   by the patient at home :

1. In the dental chair (office bleaching)

The teeth and molars are dried by means of a rubber cloth that also  protects the gums against the whitening  gel. It is also possible to protect the gums by applying a special gel.

The dentist can then apply the whitening gel to the teeth and let it work for a certain time. This process can be accelerated with a lamp (laser). Scientists doubt whether the light is really the reason for an accelerated bleaching effect and rather indicate the heat of the lamp as the cause.

2. Bleach at home with a whitening spoon

Another method of bleaching can be performed at home. See the accompanying  link  for more information about  teeth whitening in Las Vegas .

3. Bleaching spoon with whitening gel in the waiting room of the dentist

The dentist then uses a whitening gel with a higher concentration of bleaching agent ( carbamide peroxide ). This means you don't have to hold the spoon for as long (1/2 to 2 hours). Repetition a few times is often necessary. During the bleaching process, toothaches or sore gums can develop. Wearing the bleaching spoon for shorter or longer intervals can make the pain disappear. If necessary, the bleaching treatment can be interrupted. When the pain has disappeared, bleaching can be resumed.

Bleaching from the inside (walking bleach):

After a  root canal treatment  , the dead tooth can be bleached from the inside. A paste with a bleach is applied to the tooth, after which the tooth is closed with a temporary filling. In the following days, the tooth will lighten. Depending on the result, the treatment will be repeated several times. Finally, the tooth is closed with a final filling. Since a  root canal treatment  must be performed for this, it is not recommended for living teeth.

Bleaching result

The result can be surprising and have a very nice effect on the tooth color. Fillings turned out to be difficult, but can of course be transferred and adjusted if necessary. After a few years, the teeth color back to their original color. Smoking and drinking a lot of coffee or tea accelerates this. Resulting can then be achieved with re-bleaching. The result can also be tracked by bleaching once a month. The result may depend on the cause of the discoloration. For example, with an antibiotic ( tetracycline ) discoloration, the result is less predictable.

In order for your teeth to retain the beautiful white shade, it is important that you continue to take good care of your teeth after the treatment. Take that little bit extra every night to brush your teeth with, for example,  charcoal teeth whitening powder . If the whiter shade has disappeared a bit, you can use a  whitening pen , so that you can shine again within a week.
